Even if you don’t take into account COVID-19, there have been a lot of changes at Freedom Hill Baptist Church just south of Mannford. In October the church celebrated their 50th Anniversary and at the same time saw their pastor leave for FBC, Apache. Jon Syverson, a disaster relief Blue Cap leader and a strong proponent for Camp Lela had served at FHBC for more than ten years.

The church was able to enlist Rick Cope from Sand Springs to be their interim pastor. They also took a look at their constitution and church organization and realized they really needed some updates. The church is now working with the CBA Director of Missions and Rick Cope to evaluate several areas in the church. There are five teams, each with a leader and 3-4 members. Those teams are: 1. Constitution/Bylaws, 2. Financial system, 3. Committee Structure, 4. Church Ministries, and 5. Outreach/Inreach. Each team will meet monthly with help from the DOM or Interim Pastor. Once a month each team will present a progress report to the whole church for additional input and evaluation. Hopefully final recommendations can be voted upon and begun to be put into practice sometime this spring.
